For us Newbergundians that drive 219 we should be seeing construction work on phase 2A of the bypass kick off shortly. I just called the Oregon DOT project manager and got this update:
🔹 Phase 2A is in the bid process now, so if all goes smoothly work could start in the December-January time frame! This phase will clean up the interchange where OR 18 meets OR 219, and includes:
- Realignment of OR 18 with a new connection to OR 219
- New eastbound exit and westbound entrance ramps
- A bridge carrying the eastbound exit ramp over OR 219
- Widening of OR 219 for an additional travel lane, a sidewalk, ADA ramps, and improved drainage
- Realigning NE Wynooski Road to better connect with Wilsonville Road
🔹 Phase 2B is the next big state and is still in planning and funding. This phase will connect the bypass all the way to OR 99.
- A road with one lane in each direction, plus turning and merge lanes
- Sound walls to reduce noise levels
- Pedestrian connections near the public golf course
- Eight bridges to cross local roads and creeks
- Intersection improvements for better access
📅 Rough Phase 2B Schedule:
- Design: 2017-2024
- Construction: Phase 2A starts in 2024; Phase 2B is still seeking funding
