Açaí Bowls in Newberg: Jordyn and Micah at Gooseberry Açaí

About Gooseberry Açaí

Gooseberry Açaí serves açaí bowls in Newberg, Oregon, from a new shop at 111A S College St downtown and from a mobile cart that travels to events. It is owned by Jordyn and Micah Ritschard, who launched it in 2026.

Jordyn has had an açaí smoothie for breakfast almost every morning for as long as she can remember, and she always wished açaí were easier to find in Oregon. She is a freelance videographer and designer. Micah is a mechanical engineer, and he designed and built their açaí cart from the ground up. Gooseberry started as a pop-up at farmers markets and community events around Newberg and Dundee and is now opening a brick-and-mortar shop, serving from the cart inside while the space is renovated.

What Gooseberry Açaí Covers

The bowls are simple: pure Brazilian açaí sorbet, fresh bananas, blueberries and strawberries, gluten-free granola and a honey drizzle. Extra toppings include Nutella, peanut butter and lilikoi (passion fruit) butter drizzles.

• The Newberg shop: 111A S College St, Tuesday through Saturday, 8 am to 1 pm. Hours can change when the cart is booked for an event, so check their Find Us page.

What Customers Say

“Had the best açaí bowl. I’ve had plenty of açaí bowls and they were never THAT great. But here? The texture, the granola, sweet and salty flavor, etc. Literal perfection. Well will be back again and again and will recommend to everyone. Ps. Their spoons change colors and we all got different colors!”

Why I’m Featuring Gooseberry

Gooseberry is the kind of business that makes downtown Newberg a better place to spend a Saturday morning. When clients are looking at homes near downtown, I like being able to point to a new local shop a few blocks away and tell them the owners built it themselves.

The cart is also a good option for anyone planning an event here, from a wedding at a Dundee winery to a team lunch. If you’re hosting, the rest of my preferred business list has other local businesses worth knowing.
